Salary: £70,000 - £80,000 per annum + package

Role Overview

The Mechanical Project Manager will be responsible for delivering multiple concurrent projects, typically ranging from £100k to £700k in value, within a live client environment. The role involves managing projects from initial concept through design, delivery and final handover, ensuring they are completed safely, on programme, and to maximum commercial performance.

You will work closely with internal teams, subcontractors and client representatives, maintaining high standards while ensuring customer expectations are consistently met or exceeded.

Key Responsibilities

  • Survey, plan and define scopes of work across multiple projects
  • Produce accurate budget forecasts and/or firm quotations, monitor and control project costs, and provide monthly performance reports
  • Deliver projects from design phase through to completion, including full handover documentation and forward planning
  • Review work packages to ensure scope is clearly defined and understood
  • Attend regular client meetings, recording discussions and tracking actions
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, suppliers and site teams
  • Develop and manage construction programmes with staff and contractors
  • Arrange appropriately trained personnel and oversee works during and outside normal working hours where required
  • Coordinate site investigations and develop cost-effective engineering solutions
  • Ensure production and implementation of project plans, risk assessments, method statements, and site waste management plans
  • Procure plant and materials in line with company procedures
  • Ensure agreed KPIs and SLAs are achieved
  • Maintain detailed site diaries and records
  • Lead by example in promoting health, safety and environmental standards and ensuring compliance with legal obligations
  • Maintain up-to-date HSE documentation and produce monthly reports
  • Allocate HSE responsibilities across site teams and ensure understanding through training
  • Ensure subcontractors comply with required procedures and standards
  • Manage environmental and waste planning requirements on site
  • Liaise with third parties to ensure compliance with regulatory standards
  • Deliver team briefings and ensure appropriate training is in place
  • Ensure QA documentation is produced and maintained
  • Close out technical queries effectively
  • Ensure as-built drawings and O&M manuals are completed and submitted at project completion

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years’ demonstrable experience in a Main Contractor role
  • Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously
  • Experience working within live environments (preferred)
  • Proficiency with project management software, Procore preferred but not essential
  • Full UK Driving Licence
  • Valid CSCS Card
  • IOSH Managing Safely or SMSTS qualification, or equivalent
  • Ability to provide two references
  • Reside within approximately 50 miles or 1 hour commute of London

Desirable Attributes:

  • Enhanced management training such as ILM or similar
  • Technical authoring experience
  • Degree educated
  • First Aid trained
  • DBS Check (Basic or Enhanced), or willingness to obtain upon appointment
