Fit-Out Estimator

Location: South East (London and site survey based)
Sector: Commercial Office Fit-Out
Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Hours: 45 hours per week, 7:00am – 4:00pm
Salary: Negotiable, up to £65,000 per annum plus package

Role Overview

The Fit-Out Estimator will join the Commercial team to support continued growth within the fit-out division. The role requires a driven and self-motivated individual with proven experience in principal contracting and commercial office fit-out estimating. The successful candidate will be comfortable working independently under pressure, while also collaborating closely with the wider estimating and delivery teams.

The position involves producing compliant and competitive quotations from tender documentation, attending site and tender walkthroughs, liaising with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors, and supporting the smooth handover of secured projects into delivery. A strong understanding of fit-out delivery, ideally from an on-the-tools or project delivery background, is essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Interpret and define client briefs from site visits to produce detailed and accurate estimates
  • Liaise with internal and external services teams to coordinate fully inclusive estimates
  • Establish new tender opportunities through understanding job specifications and drawings
  • Accurately calculate take-offs from drawings, including materials and labour hours
  • Produce tender and preconstruction programmes, scopes of work, and clarifications
  • Attend site and tender walkthroughs to cross-reference drawings, identify proactive solutions, and mitigate potential site interferences
  • Demonstrate understanding of construction planning and sequencing
  • Communicate with clients to clarify unclear specifications or wording through RFIs
  • Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain competitive pricing for bid submissions
  • Participate in site reviews, tender reviews, tender handovers, and project close-out meetings as required
  • Produce handover documentation to the Contracts Team following successful tender awards
  • Attend preconstruction meetings and negotiate supplier and subcontractor quotations to achieve best value

Requirements

  • Proven background in commercial office fit-out contracting
  • Experience in estimating and quoting within a principal contractor environment
  • Strong understanding of building regulations
  • Ability to manage own workload and meet departmental targets efficiently
  • Proficient in MS Office, MS Project, Word, Excel, and other relevant estimating and computer software
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven technical and analytical ability
  • Full UK driving licence with flexibility to attend site and tender walkthroughs across the UK
  • Background from an on-the-tools role within commercial fit-out, or experience transitioning from a Project Manager or delivery-based position into estimating
