Salary: £25,000 – £40,000 per annum (DOE)
Working Pattern: Fully office-based
Sector: Construction (experience required)
The Bookkeeper will be responsible for delivering a full, accurate, and timely bookkeeping service. This role covers the processing of financial data through to bank reconciliations, preparation and submission of VAT and CIS returns, and the production of regular financial statements. The position requires prior experience within the construction sector.
Use accounting and automation software such as Dext, Xero, Sage, and QuickBooks to efficiently process financial data
Process payments, invoices, income, and receipts, ensuring accurate entry into accounting systems and appropriate filing of records
Perform regular bank reconciliations
Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable
Prepare and submit VAT returns in line with HMRC deadlines
Prepare and submit CIS returns
Produce monthly financial reports, including profit and loss statements, cash flow reports, and balance sheets
Manage and process employee expense claims
Process payroll where required
Investigate and resolve bookkeeping queries, including correcting errors and making costing adjustments
Assist the Accountant with administrative and preparatory work for year-end accounts
Undertake any other reasonable duties as required by management, commensurate with the role
Proven experience in a Bookkeeper role within the construction sector
Strong working knowledge of VAT and CIS
Experience using accounting software such as Xero, Sage, or QuickBooks
High attention to detail and strong organisational skills
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
Confident communicator with the ability to resolve financial queries efficiently
