Description:

  • Processing Payroll:

  • Calculate employee wages based on hours worked, salary, or commission.

  • Deduct taxes, benefits, and other withholdings from employee earnings.

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws.

  • Process direct deposit payments or physical checks to employees.

  • Managing Employee Records:

  • Maintain accurate employee information, such as tax exemptions, address changes, and banking details for direct deposit.

  • Ensure that all employee status changes (new hires, terminations, leaves of absence) are documented.

  • Calculating Overtime and Deductions:

  • Ensure compliance with overtime pay regulations for eligible employees.

  • Process deductions for benefits, retirement contributions, union dues, garnishments, etc.

  • Tax Filing and Reporting:

  • Prepare and submit tax filings (e.g., quarterly payroll taxes, W-2 forms, 1099 forms).

  • Ensure timely submission of payroll-related taxes to the appropriate authorities.

  • Prepare and maintain payroll reports for auditing and compliance purposes.

  • Ensuring Compliance with Labor Laws:

  • Stay up to date with changes in payroll laws and regulations.

  • Ensure that the company complies with labor laws regarding wage and hour requirements.

  • Benefits Administration:

  • Coordinate the enrollment and administration of employee benefits, including health insurance, retirement plans, and other perks.

  • Deduct employee contributions and ensure timely benefit payments.

  • Handling Payroll Queries:

  • Address employee inquiries about payroll, deductions, and benefits.

  • Provide explanations of pay statements and resolve payroll discrepancies.

  • Maintaining Confidentiality:

  • Keep payroll and employee compensation information confidential.

  • Ensure that sensitive data is protected and secure.

  • End-of-Year Payroll Processing:

  • Prepare and distribute year-end payroll statements (W-2s, 1099s, etc.).

  • Ensure that all necessary documents are submitted to the IRS and relevant authorities.

  • Auditing and Reporting:

  • Conduct periodic payroll audits to ensure accuracy and compliance.

  • Generate and present payroll reports to management for budgeting and financial analysis.
